There’s plenty to see and do in Towcester when you visit so why not make a day of it?

Town Trail – the Towcester and District Local History Society has produced a Town Trail which gives directions for a short walk to visit historic sites and buildings within the town. Copies can be picked up from the museum and St Lawrence Church.

St Lawrence Church – a beautiful Norman church containing a ‘treacle’ bible and a rare cadaver tomb of Archdeacon Sponne, Rector 1422 – 1448. Leaflets detailing items of interest within the church building and churchyard are available at the church.

Bury Mount – a Scheduled Ancient Monument, recently refurbished to create new access to the top featuring an historic timeline detailing key dates in Towcester’s history. Bury-Mount-post-renovation1Great views over the town from the top.

Watermeadows – linked to Bury Mount via a pedestrian bridge, an area of Grade II* registered parkland, part of the original nearby Easton Neston estate.

Riverside Walk – landscaped footpaths lead alongside Silverstone Brook

Towcester Cheesecakes – don’t forget to try our local delicacy, available from a number of outlets within the town, and made to a traditional recipe unique to Towcester

Towcester has a wide range of places to eat available for you to try; pubs to restaurants, and tea-rooms to diners, there’s sure to be something for everyone. Or why not bring a picnic and enjoy one of the many green spaces within the town?
